Poker Hands
Royal Flush
--The best hand that you can hope for is a royal flush. It consists of the ace, king, queen, jack, and ten of the same suit.
Straight Flush
--The next strongest hand is the straight flush. It consists of five consecutive cards of the same suit except when a royal flush
is present. An example of this is the Ace-2-3-4-5 of spades.
Four of A Kind
--After the straight flush comes the four-of-a-kind. It consists of four cards of the same rank(e.g.four kings).
Full House
--The full house is next and consists of a three-of-a-kind in conjunction with a pair(e.g.A-A-A-K-K).
Flush
--The flush consists of five cards of the same suit. If two players have a flush the one that contains the highest
valued card is the winner.
Straight
--If five cards are in sequence but of different suits this is called a straight.
Three of A Kind
--Three cards of the same rank
Two Pairs
--Two sets of two cards of the same rank
Pair
--One set of two cards of the same rank
High Card
--The worst hand in poker. It consists of five cards which don't qualify as any of the other combinations.
Cards are compared one by one starting at the highest cards (e.g. You have A-K-10-4-3 and an opponent has A-Q-9-4-3.
In this case you win because the king is of greater value than your opponents queen).
